Paolo Venini

Paul Venini (1895 – 1959). Founded the Venini & Co glass factory in 1925 in Murano, Venice. The company became well known for its high-class art glass, both from a technical and artistic point of view. Many prominent designers have worked for Venini: Mrtinuzzi, Scarpa, Bianconi, Ponti, Lundgren, Wirkkala, just to mention a few.

Paulo Venini himself was a prominent designer and one of his models is ”inciso” from the 1950-ies. It is made up of traditional forms, usually bottles with a stopper, where the surface has been engraved with densely packed lines to give the surface a matted lustre.
